“The fruit that endures is therefore all that we have sown in human souls: love, knowledge, a gesture capable of touching hearts, words that open the soul to joy in the Lord. So let us go and pray to the Lord to help us bear fruit that endures. Only in this way will the earth be changed from a valley of tears to a garden of God.” – Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Homily for the Mass for the Election of the Supreme Pontiff, St. Peter’s Basilica, April 18, 2005

In some ways, I think that I am more sensitive to my own health crises since becoming a mom. I hurt my ankle yesterday playing outside with the kids. Stepped on some ice and my ankle just collapsed. I was immediately in high panic mode all evening and through the night. What is I have to have surgery? What if I can't do all of the things I need to for my family? And so on. Some might say that childbirth is the ultimate health crisis and everything after that has to be easier. OK, but not because of the pain. Because they give you a human being to care for when you leave the hospital. I have to be on top of my game every single day or my kids don't eat or get their butts wiped. But all the dread and negativity was for naught. My ankle was much improved in the morning and 24 hours out it is nearly ship-shape.

One of these days I will actually look up how to make my blog easier to read. One of the blogs I have been following for awhile just got a new header. It is very cute, but it really does not add as much as you would think. I read blogs for what they can teach me only. I am not an artistic pictures and interesting squiggles type. Some of the design elements do make the content easier to read though and those will be the ones that I will add once I sit down and figure it out. Another blog I follow has great content, but it is very wordy and pleased with itself. I am hoping to make this blog more like the Facebook posts I would make if i didn't think they would confuse my friends.

New Plates
I love love loved my Target plates for the 2 years that they lasted. I let my husband pick out the color of our new plates, knowing full well that studies have shown that you will eat less if your plate is a funky and unappetizing color. Being the clutch player that he is, he chose lemongrass. That would be green for my male readers.
Sticking Power
For those keeping track at home, this is my fourth blog. After many fits and starts, I am hoping this one has sticking power (to mix a metaphor). I'm hoping to blog about anything that catches my fancy. I see many "pretty butterflies" in my world that have my head turning constantly. You can tell I'm a bit of an absent-minded sort. Anyway, I hope to share it all right here.
